"American Idol" Recap: Underwood & Coldplay Perform, Skylar Sent Home
Making for another action-packed night of television, "American Idol" held its Top 5 Elimination episode on Thursday (May 3).
The hit Fox competition series brought viewers not one, but two guest performances with both Coldplay and Carrie Underwood taking the stage during the course of the show.
Miss Underwood offered up an energetic version of the title track from her new album, Blown Away, which was just released this week. After her performance, host Ryan Seacrest offered his compliments by saying, "I think the results just blew away. Good to have you back."
Later in the program, the Chris Martin fronted English rock band Coldplay treated viewers to a rendition of "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" off of their most recent album Mylo Xyloto.
As for the singing hopefuls, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine were in the bottom two, with Seacrest revealing that Miss Laine is no longer in the running for the title of "Idol" winner.
